Saffron Walden Wild Flower Group –

oxlip, a species of ancient woodland

oxlip, a species of our local ancient woodlands

The Saffron Walden Wild Flower Group is a long established informal group of enthusiasts who arrange a programme of different monthly field walks from April to September, taking no more than about an hour and a half each. We enjoy exchanging views on the identification of the many species we find (rarities in particular!) which not only adds to our knowledge but the lists we make provide a detailed record of continuity, or change, and these records are welcomed by the Saffron Walden Museum to add to its archive of our local environment.

The group hopes to be able to hold a programme of events in 2022 starting in April, dependent upon the Covid situation.  The programme of events will be:

Wednesday April 27th 6:00pm – Garnetts Wood Barnston

Wednesday 11th May 6:00pm Stickling Green

Wednesday June 8th 6:00pm Fulbourn Meadow nature reserve

Wednesday June 22nd 10:30 am Roadside Verge Thaxted Road Saffron Walden outside Aldi

Wednesday July 13th 6:00 pm Coploe Hill Pit nature reserve, Ickleton

Wednesday July 27th 10:30 am Wandlebury

Wednesday August 10th 6:00 pm Chrishall Grange Royston Road roadside verge

Wednesday September 14th 6:00 pm Little Chesterford Roundabout roadside verge
