Saffron Walden Wild Flower Group –
The Saffron Walden Wild Flower Group is a long established informal group of enthusiasts who arrange a programme of different monthly field walks from April to September, taking no more than about an hour and a half each. We enjoy exchanging views on the identification of the many species we find (rarities in particular!) which not only adds to our knowledge but the lists we make provide a detailed record of continuity, or change, and these records are welcomed by the Saffron Walden Museum to add to its archive of our local environment.
The group has now completed its programme of events in 2023, when we visited the following places:
26th April – 6 pm Rowney Wood, Debden
10th May – 6 pm Birchanger Wood, Bishop’s Stortford
7th June – 6 pm Turners Spring
21st June 10 am – Springwell, between Saffron Walden and Little Chesterford
12th July 6 pm – Newport near the little pest chapel
26th July 2 pm – Felsted Nature Reserve
9th August 6 pm – Harrison Sayer Nature Reserve, Hadstock
6th Sept 6 pm – Langley Upper Green roadside verge
We intend to run another series of visits in 2024 between April and September and will publish a list in early April on this page.
We would very much welcome new members – anyone interested should please telephone Gertrud – Phone: 07826 844 853;
