Saffron Walden Museum

has an excellent Natural History Discovery Centre featuring local habitats and species. More information can be seen at this link; http://www.saffronwaldenmuseum.org

The Museum holds biological records for the district and also organises botanical surveys to support the management of the special roadside verges – see our ‘Special Verges’ page.

Bishops Stortford Natural History Society

http://bsnhs.webplus.net/  The Society continues the skills of recording and observation, combining them with practical conservation projects in the locality, and running a range of evening talks in the winter, and summer visits and outdoor activities.

Essex Field Club

www.essexfieldclub.org.uk  is the main source for biological records in the county and has an A to Z species index on its Essex Biodiversity section, with species distribution information on its County Data section.

Uttlesford Badger Group

www.ubg-uk.org – rescues and rehabilitates injured badgers and releases them back to the wild. Report any sightings of injured or dead badgers to them.

Hatfield Forest Country Park

National Trust – the largest single site for wildlife in Uttlesford, and a rare survivor of an historic landscape.
